Legal Policies for the
Site.
Every Web site should contain basic legal policies that outline
protection, privacy, ownership and the way the site can be used by
the Web site's visitors.
Traditionally, copyright, privacy and terms of use policies are
included. Each needs to reflect the structure behind the site's content,
its intended audience and the function of the site's content.
In addition, strong consideration should be give to inclusion of a
Safety Policy.

The Internet Content Rating Association [ICRA].
The ICRA
dates back to 1994 as a technical organization created to volunatarily
classify Web content. Such classification enables filtering software
and parental controls to filter content that is suitable for children
and content that is not suitable for children.
Regardless of content classification, use of the ICRA system should
be included as a ‘best practice’ for all Web sites.
By nature of its content, mostly imagery used throughout, Boinkin
Chipmunks is not suitable for viewing by children. It includes three
methods to classify its content.
The first is a meta tag that rates the content as
‘Mature’.
The second is use of the World Wide Web [W3C] Platform for Internet
Content Selection [PICS].
The third is the use of the ICRA standard.
The use and combination of the three methods helps to ensure that content
is filtered regardless of the age or type of content filtering system
used by the Web site visitor.
